The Secrets Of Bagged Versus Bagless

By Sally Wright

The controversy of bagged versus bagless rages on. As with most things in life, there is really nothing free. The two most claimed advantages to bagless vacuum cleaners were lower operating costs and better performance. Concerning the cost issues, all vacuums need to filter the exhausting air they use to carry the dirt into the collection area, or else they would pick the dirt up from the floor and spit it right back out.

Whether you have a bagless HEPA filter, a pre-filter, or disposable bags, they all need to be changed at some point. With the average life of a vacuum cleaner, you can expect to spend the same on either collection system for filters, but if you value your time, you can expect to spend quite a bit more on a bagless system.

To keep your bagless vacuum cleaner operating at top levels, you will need to empty the dirt container when it's full and perform regular maintenance on the filter. The type of filter the vacuum uses will determine just how much service will be required, although most use a pleated HEPA filter.

Even though the claim of better airflow performance with bagless vacuums is true in a sense, over the life of the vacuum you'll get the same, or maybe even better performance from a bagged vacuum cleaner system.

With bagged vacuum cleaners, the performance will start at 100% with each new bag then slowly drop as the bag starts to fill. Just how quickly the performance drops depends on how well the bag is constructed. With the average vacuum and bag, you may replace the bag every 3 - 4 weeks with 90% of performance dropped the first week, 70% in weeks 2 and 3, then 50% of less in the fourth week.

The cycle will insure that you get a 100% peak cleaning every 3 or 4 weeks from the vacuum cleaner. The filtered cyclonic machines have filters that are designed to last 6 months, 12 months, and up to 18 months before they need to be replaced.

If you have dogs or cats, regardless of whether you see it or not, almost all domestic animals shed their fur on a regular basis throughout their lives. Pet owners often wonder as well, which vacuum is the best to remove pet hair.

For pretty much the same reasons that fur sticks to the carpet, it will also stick to your bagless vacuum's pleated filter cartridge. The fur will reduce the performance of airflow, and is also a pain in the neck to clean off the filter.

Over time, the fiber that makes up the filter can retain odor from pets, even if you clean the filter well. If your filter requires replacing only once a year, you could end up with a vacuum that spits odors that will stink up your house pretty bad.

Those vacuums that use bags will often provide for neat disposal of a full bag. There are some brands such as BOSCH that actually engineer bag disposal into the system. With BOSCH canister vacuums, the replacement of bags is a single dustless step. The new mega bags have a built in closure system that upon removal, will slide shut and trap the dirt inside of the bag.

Still, there are many people out there who love bagless machines. Bagless vacuums will continue at a slow place to gain market share, and people will continue to buy them.

First Thoughts About The Excellent Wrsitop Computer Suunto Vector.

By Maro Dango

If you are an enthusiastic outdoor person, whether or not you happen to be into hiking, climbing or simply a typical fisherman, you just shouldn't leave the house without a gadget like Suunto Vector.

To start with it possesses a remarkably exact digital altimeter, that of course requires regular calibration, but when you keep close track of what it really says, you ought to have no problems maintaining on specifically where you stand above or below sea level. Next is the one other extensively under-used tool, a digital barometer.

Certainly it might appear overwhelming initially, but devote a few momemts carefully looking at the guide, and you should have it down pretty quickly. I couldn't state you could potentially bet your health on the precision on this barometer, but it's a great deal closer to guessing the true conditions than any meteorologist I have ever came across. I'd personally say ıt had been around 80% accurate When was the last time you could point out that about the local weatherman? Additionally, the barometer features a built-in thermometer. Now once again, for a entirely accurate temp reading you should take the watch off your wrist for approximately 15 minutes first, and as far as I am aware, all wrist watches which include this function have to be carried out much the same way, therefore remember that before you look at your watch and announce it is 90 degrees while it is more likely 75.

Finally the last nice tool filled into this watch is a extremely accurate digital compass. As soon as calibrated this compass offers you good guidance, specifically the passionate hikers out there who depend on map reading in not familiar area.

I nearly forgot, furthermore, it can tell the time! It comes with an alarm and also a stop watch. Yet another thing, the different colors you could find the Vector help to make it as much an accessory to your trekking outfit as an invaluable instrument required for a safe travel.

Overview of the Suunto Elementum Terra, The Classy Wristop Computer Watch

By Steve Burgenson

Suunto Elementum Terra will come in a good, hefty, coated card board box, that's nicely lined. Inside the box is a manual, a plastic material warranty card, plus a polishing/cleaning fabric.

My very first impression was that the watch was heavier, but smaller than my Suunto Vector and Suunto Core. It does feel a little thicker however. It's actually an extremely wonderful, dressy watch. After putting it on, it does not appear too weighty. It's got a good weight to it.

Case and Crystal: The case uses stainless steel, having a matte/satin finish to it. It seems to be very nicely made, and very durable. You can find 3 buttons on the right hand side, that all move quite beautifully. Firm, but with no click. The top button is a scroll wheel, for scrolling through menus and making adjustments. I wish my Suunto Core had one. The scroller also actions smoothly, with confirmation clicks. The case is water-resistant to 100m (~300 feet) and according to the manual, the buttons May be pressed underwater. The Terra face is really a flat, sapphire crystal, that also comes with an anti-glare finish onto it.The buttons seem to stick out a bit, but in practice they just do not get in the way, or pushed accidentally.

Strap: It come with several different bands, leather, stainless steel, or rubber. Mine had a great dark leather band. It's some white sewing around the edge of it, that really sets it off beautifully. The band is very thick and strong, but is still comfortable to wear.

Display: The Terra I got has a positive display, which i like Additionally it is provided with a negative display, in case you like that better. It runs on the classical segment display for numbers, just like the Suunto Vector. Thus, it will not plot out any charts/graphs of the elevation or air pressure like the Suunto Core does. The backlight is incredibly bright. A lot better than I have ever seen on any Suunto watch.

Functions: Suunto has not surprisingly kept the capabilities to a minimum. I'm confident that is simply because it really is intended to be a luxury dress watch. It's actually something to wear to the workplace or possibly a celebration, but will still perform in the mountains, even though not as well as the Core. The Terra only has two modes, Time/Altimeter and Compass. The primary display of the Terra displays a lot of information. In the top row, you receive the present height, the center row gives you time, and also the bottom row shows the day. At the top of the display, you have the pressure pattern arrows, and around the perimeter you receive the sea-level barometric pressure. The face area of the Terra doesn't have a rotatable bezel much like the Vector or Core. Instead, a circular chart is present for reading the Sea-Level barometric pressure.

Buying Guide - Headphones Types

By Javier Dreier

So, which headphones should you use for different situations? Well there are so many kinds these days. There are open, closed, ear-bud, wireless, noise-cancelling, Bluetooth, surround, DJ, mobile phone and many other styles.

Well first I'll outline the big, normal style headphones. If you're a serious music listener or movie buff then I would recommend an open style headphones like the Sennheiser HD595 headphones. These have amazing sound quality but at the expense of isolation unfortunately. If you have a loved one or child that must not be disturbed then closed would be a better option though. However, the bass level is usually a lot higher with these and not as accurate either. It's what people refer to as hyped bass.

Next up is the 'in-ear' style earbud. The best pair to go for in terms of outright audio fidelity is the Etymotic ER-4 ear-buds. They might take a little getting used to since they go so deep into the ear and the driver sits so close to the eardrum but they deliver unparalleled sound for any earbuds so check them out.

Then we have surround headphones. These are perfect for gaming and watching movies. If you have neighbors that wouldn't appreciate a Bruce Willis film complete with extremely bass heavy subwoofer-driven explosions every 5 minutes then these are a great alternative. While the surround experience is not as good as in a cinema, it's often a lot better than the average home surround system without any acoustic treatment in the room.

Another popular and more recent addition to headphones is the wireless variety. If you're the sporty type and can't be fussing with cables getting in your way then look no further. You can run, hike, sprint or play ball to your hearts' content with these and not worry at all.

DJ headphones are a special breed. These are designed for only a few things. To not let sound in or out, to last a long time and to have good bass. However, sound quality on these is never high on the list of priorities so if that's your thing, look elsewhere.

Developed in the jet pilots cockpit, the noise cancelling headphone is a special breed. These are made for anyone in noisy places such as: frequent flyers, factory workers and commuters. These definitely need a test listen beforehand as some can negatively affect the sound quite a bit so try out about 5 pairs before you buy. A talk button and volume slider are a must too. If you need peace and quiet and love your music, try out a few pairs of these today.

This is pretty much everything you need to shop for your new headphones with confidence. Get out there, get listening and good luck.

Hands On Report On The Renowned Suunto Elementum Aqua Outdoor Watch.

By Jack Russel

The Suunto Elementum Aqua came in a discrete black cube, with merely one word crafted on: "SUUNTO." The one I received has black case, black rubberized band, and positive face. The black case is stainless steel 316L, the typical "marine grade metal," which is incredibly elegant. Through some distance it may resemble an elegant dark G-Shock watch.

The fact is a coworker of mine made exactly this remark; nevertheless a closer inspection unveils its originality. The 41mm bezel has 8 hex screws and its combination with the sapphire glass as well as the curved case remind me of the viewing port of an atmospheric scuba diving suit. In fact I believe that this is actually the most incredible feature of the watch, despite the fact that it is similar to the bezel of a UTS model, the execution by Suunto looks excellent.

Yet another unique function of the watch may be the significant crown pusher at 2 o' clock, the one feature that's shared among all of the Elementum products.

Being bigger than the simple pusher at three o' clock, it sticks out, adding an extra touch of different design culture. The crystal has yellowish circular and linear marks which determine the measurements taken under water. Both the yellow lines help to notify about the present and maximum depth, dive time, while the circular marking is the analogue temperature scale.

Suunto Elementum Aqua operates in two modes: TIME and DIVE mode. The time function is easy enough, the hour and the minutes are placed at the middle of the display screen, while at the end of the display the date is discovered. Do not ask about the reading of seconds, the main display does not have it, despite the empty higher part of the screen which could provide the ideal room for this reading. The reason behind this omission could be an attempt to prevent the refreshing of the display each second and preserve some battery. The setup of the time requires pressing the crown for a few mere seconds. Then the time, date, and alarm set up is extremely effortless by screwing the crown clockwise or anti-clockwise. Another useful characteristic of the watch is a button lock function, which is triggered by pressing the 2 pushers simultaneously. Additionally, by pushing the center pusher firmly in any mode, the backlight is started.

The New Dyson DC15 Design

By Wayne Allen

Most of today's vacuum cleaners use the standard 4 wheel design. This results in a basic back and forth motion. Very hard to get around corners and can make some crevices impossible.

The Dyson DC15 upright vacuum uses a large yellow ball for maneuverability. This unique design allows the Dyson DC15 to pivot and roll with simple ease. Allowing it to travel where most other vacuums have a very hard time reaching. With a simple movement of the wrist the Dyson DC15 can be guided very easily.

In addition to being one of the easiest vacuum cleaners to use the Dyson DC15 also has a very interesting filtration system. Dyson vacuum cleaners do not use filters in the same way that most vacuums do.

The Dyson DC15 moves the dirt and air into the container where an outer cyclone removes large particles. Food, Hair and fibers are removed during this part of the program. The air is then moved to an inner cyclone where it is spun with a greater speed to remove fine particles of dust from the air.

After the inner cyclone the air is moved through a washable inner foam pre-filter where the particles will remain trapped. This feature allows debris to be trapped in the machine and out of the motor.

The last part of the process is a trip through the final HEPA filter. The Dyson DC15 has a very strict filter system that will prevent most of the bacteria and mold from staying in your home. The vacuum cleaner is designed to keep dirt inside the machine where it belongs.

They may not be known but Dyson vacuum cleaners have been around for many years. They may not be as well known as some of the large names in the industry, but they offer performance and quality with their vacuums. Dyson strives to improve their design with each new product release.

The Dyson DC15 is a fantastic vacuum cleaner to hit the market. It uses an innovative ball design that no other company uses. The Dyson vacuums are also very well known for their suction capabilities and the attachments.

Sennheiser HD595 Headphones - 3 Points

By Bo Saba

The critical factors in a headphones' usefulness are as follows:

1. Audio Quality

2. Comfortability

3. Aesthetics

Thankfully when shopping for new headphones, the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones seemed to pop up everywhere. People on many forums are talking about them, reviewing them and buying them. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive too. Everyone just loves their sound quality and detail.

It has a transparent vibe with a very balanced spectrum overall. You really get a sense of the personality or texture of the source you're listening to. While the HD595 headphones are a mid-level model of the Sennheiser range, they can easily compete with the ultra high end models from other brands.

These are definitely not bassy headphones. If you prefer that type of sound a good eq or headphone amp (or both) will warm these up quite a bit. If you compare them to most closed type headphones they will seem a little thin. However, those headphones are bass boosted to sell more. The quality of the bass is very low and has no real punch or substance. The bass on these is deep, extended and real. It's just not in your face is all.

Maybe the biggest drawcard about these headphones are their insane comfort. The clamping force (how hard the headband pushes on your head) is very low, the ear cups are really large and sit way off your ears. The ear pads wont make you sweaty and the open design lets your ears breathe. The best part though is that they are exceptionally light so you'll get totally absorbed in your entertainment without being reminded that you're wearing headphones.

The design is another thing which I quite like. It's understated yet cool. The silver accents, black headband and grille with the Sennheiser logo underneath are all nice touches without looking garish or distasteful. Overall, the Sennheiser HD595 headphones are the best buy around right now. I recommend them for anyone who is a fan of true sound and appreciates comfortable headphones. Get them right away.

Is The Sennheiser HD 595 Hyped Up?

By Kevin Mcmartin

Many headphones today look really good. Their design on the outside is top notch. However, some very vital things are missing on the inside. So while they look really cool and will impress your friends, they will sound terrible and not give you the pleasure that well designed (all round) headphones like the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones can.

These are the perfect headphones for music, gaming or watching movies. They can handle the volumes needed for watching movies, the detail for music and they have the comfort for games. It even comes with a mini TRS jack for your iPhone. Many headphones have the annoying tendency to get harsh or scratchy at higher volumes. Well not these. The 595's handle it with an effortless ease. Even though they were only launched a few years ago, they have already developed a massive user and fan base totally dedicated to them. Pretty impressive.

These are sure to last your entire lifetime. Especially since they have fully replaceable parts. You will be blown away by the clarity, sparkle and depth that these headphones produce. A while back there were some production issues that lead to less-than-great headphones but those issues have been taken care of. If you buy a pair today, they will be just as good as the first ones made.

The sound is amazingly detailed and puts you right in the action or amongst the musicians playing. Sennheiser is also very good with providing replacement parts for these which makes sense since they are such a great seller. So there is no need to worry about having a great pair of headphones that are falling apart.

The biggest strength of these headphones, apart their sheer comfort, is their ability to play live music that has been well recorded. Some good examples would be the live Eagles CD's or DVD's. You will feel like you are right in the audience. Gamers have also noted that they are really good for games too. This makes sense seeing as though they are so amazingly comfortable and gamers will play games for almost days on end. The HD 595 headphones are highly recommended.

Plusses And Minuses - Sennheiser HD595

By Hugh Benites

The Sennheiser HD595 headphones excel at piano music and female vocals. If the recordings are good you will hear it and conversely if it's not that great then these headphones will not be kind. They will highlight every flaw mercilessly. The midrange is nice and balanced, the detail is great and the bass, while being a little shy is tight and nicely extended.

These headphones work great with good quality equipment such as headphone amps, cables, CD players etc. I have a feeling these would not play well with tube equipment though. The highs are exciting and makes acoustic music very vivid. The sound stage is nice and wide while not being unrealistic.

The soundstage with these headphones is almost like you're listening to speakers. It's great. Most headphones do not get the stereo image right but these definitely do. However i would definitely get a nice amp to go with them as this will boost the lows and level out the frequency response a bit.

Another nice aspect to them is the insane level of comfort they provide. I get headaches pretty easily from headphones but with these it hasn't happened yet. Other cans put a lot of pressure on your head but there is almost none with these. The HD595's work with almost any style of music.

Seeing as the price of these is not much more than truly budget models, it makes a lot of sense to give these a listen instead. These are your best bet if you listen to a huge selection of different music very often. I would not like to recommend these for fans of classical music. Grados would the better for that purpose.

If there are any weaknesses in these headphones (and there aren't really) I would have to get really picky and say the bass could be a little louder and the overall feel of the sound a bit less rough. However, having said that, a good headphone amp will sort that out and give it a flatter, wider sound which is always welcome. This wouldn't be a review if I didn't list the bad points so there you are.

Sennheiser HD 595 Headphones - Design Features

By Justin Larimore

Sennheiser really pioneered a new type of driver design with their HD range. Instead of having the drivers angled perpendicular to your ears, these are positioned higher up and face at a downward angle to deliver the sound straight into your ear canal. Traditional headphones have always just thrown sound at your ear with no regards to their basic anatomy. The end result is a much cleaner and tighter sound.

They are very well balanced headphones but some have said the bass is a little lacking. While this is true to a degree, a headphone amplifier will greatly improve the low end. In addition they feature a unique driver technology called Duofol which is supposed to reduce standing waves inside the earpieces drastically. It also features extremely lightweight aluminum voice coils which are known to produce superior dynamics to other materials.

The HD 595's frequency response is a very respectable 12 - 38500 hz which exceeds the abilities of the human ear itself. Very impressive indeed. It's also comes with a handy headphone hanger to keep them safe and out of the way. In addition, Sennheiser makes spare parts for these to this day so durability becomes less important as time wears on.

Since these are open style headphones, expect a lot of bleed from them. This is simply the price to pay for such great sound. You see, closed type headphones can never deliver the level of dynamics and fidelity that open headphones can deliver. It comes down to physics at the end of the day. The amazingly light and brilliant open design, makes these an experience in themselves.

Sennheiser really hit it out of the park with the HD 595 headphones. These are top quality, high end and affordable headphones that will last along time and bring you years of fun and relaxation. The design, technology and features make the HD 595's perfect for classical and jazz fans or anyone seeking more good quality sound in their lives. Highly recommended. This is a great gift too by the way.

Best Carpet Steam Cleaner Practices Everyone Should Use

By Tasha Kirk

The seeming ease by which carpets are stained or dirtied regularly in a short period of time can give one tension and headaches. In fact regular vacuuming, even if done twice or thrice daily is hardly enough to keep that new carpet look. Thus what can be advised is through the use of a carpet steam cleaner alongside some best carpet steam cleaner for pets techniques.

Precisely how heavy a carpet gets stained or dirtied is determined by foot and floor traffic. The amount of dirt build up is directly related to the amount of traffic that passes through the area. Light traffic areas may need steam cleaning only once a year compared to almost four times a year for heavy traffic areas. In determining the volume of traffic that passes through a carpet area, include non human traffic like animals and machines as well.

Even though one may already have a regular vacuuming regimen going, a carpet steam cleaner is still unbeatable. This is because it can probe down deeper into the fiber base and extract deep seated dirt. In this way one gets a more thorough and deep clean.

Apart from this being the best machine to clean your carpet, having some good habits hand in hand with its use will give you maximum results. For one, you must wear something loose and light for definitely you will sweat. Not wearing any footwear at all is a must, but it is recommended that you do wear white socks. The socks will keep you body oil from mixing with chemicals in the cleaning process which can create a stain in some instances on the carpet. Do not wear colored socks as the dye of the socks may transfer itself to the carpet during cleaning.

The next step will be to clear the area to be cleaned. Pick up and relocate furniture to other rooms. Also while doing this, scope out the area so you can mentally see where your cleaning will begin and where it will end.

Good ventilation and air circulation is a must in steam cleaning. Since the steam will make the carpet damp, it is good that you have good ventilation to ensure shorter drying times. Increase air circulation and ventilation by opening windows. If no windows are around, open all exits and provide air circulators or electric fans in the area.

Once you do start cleaning, make sure to always work yourself from the innermost part of the room outward to the exit. This will keep you from stepping on clean areas. If you do need to step on already cleaned areas, it is wise to put out newspapers so you do not soil your work. In addition do make sure your water and chemical mix is of the right amount so as to avoid clotting on the carpet fibers. - 14100

Electronic Bug Zapper

By Owen Jones

The hand held bug zapper is the best way of clearing your immediate vicinity of insects, especially the flying ones like mosquitoes. The indoor bug zapper evaporates any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a pleasingly loud, electrical 'zap'!

However, this is not to say that the hand held insect killer cannot be operated outside, so long as it is not raining. It should be handled just like any other high voltage electrical item. Keep the indoor bug killer dry and please do not use it when you are standing in the pool!

Models do vary a lot, but there are basically only two types of indoor bug zapper: the battery operated bug killer and the rechargeable electric bug zapper. Both are equally effective at killing insects and work on the same principle.

The hand held insect zapper looks like a 'junior' tennis racquet, but with three layers of 'strings', which are in fact wires. The central grid of wires becomes electrified at the touch of a button, while the other two grids, one on either side, are only earths.

When an insect is trapped between the wires of the electric bug killer, it creates a short, which evaporates it instantly with a loud crack and a flash. The hand held insect zapper will kill other bugs too, but they just burn instead of explode.

I have had the rechargeable type for about five years and am extremely satisfied with the indoor insect killer. In fact, the electric bug killer has come a long way over the last few years. A fully charged hand held insect zapper is strong enough to last for several hundred swipes and will hold it's charge, if unused, for weeks without any noticeable discharge.

The rechargeable battery pack will put up with intensive use for the best part of a year, although its ability to hold a charge for a few weeks gradually reduces after six or seven months.

The latest indoor insect killer I've used has a main on/off switch, a light that shines when it is activated (the brightness of this light also indicates the battery's strength) and a light that comes on when the zapper is plugged in for recharge.

The instructions say that it should be (re)charged for sixteen hours. I usually put it on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the indoor insect killer shows a marked increase in performance with only a couple of hours charging.

The latest version I've seen also comes with a powerful beam called a 'headlamp'. I have found this very useful when walking in the garden, but I'm not sure whether it's meant to attract the flies in the dark so that you can zap them if you're bored. You know, like an anglerfish.

I've used the headlamp on my electric bug killer for that reason too, but the beam uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the hand held insect zapper is a huge asset to any outdoor event. The hand held insect killer is useful for 'clearing' your bedroom before retiring; it's unequalled for killing evening mosquitoes and it will eradicate wasps at a lunch table as well. - 14100

Review Of The Suunto Elementum Terra, The Stylish Wristop Computer Watch

By Steve Burgenson

Suunto Elementum Terra comes in a good, hefty, coated cardboard box, that is nicely lined. In the box is a manual, a plastic material warranty card, plus a polishing/cleaning fabric.

My first impression was that the watch was weightier, but small compared to my Suunto Vector and Suunto Core. It does feel somewhat thicker although. It's actually a very good, formal watch. After getting it on, it doesn't come across as too weighty. Its got a good weight to it.

Case and Crystal: The case is made of stainless steel, having a matte/satin finish to it. It seems to be quite nicely made, and very strong. There are 3 buttons on the right hand side, that all move quite nicely. Firm, though no click. The top button is also a scroll wheel, for scrolling through menus and making changes. I wish my Suunto Core had one. The scroller also actions smoothly, with confirmation clicks. The case is water resistant to 100m (~300 feet) and according to the manual, the buttons Could be pushed underwater. The Terra face is a flat, sapphire crystal, that also comes with an anti-glare coating onto it.The buttons appear to stand out a lttle bit, but in practice they do not get in the way, or pushed accidentally.

Strap: It come with several unique bands, leather, stainless steel, or rubber. Mine came with a pleasant dark leather band. It has some white stitching across the edge of it, that actually sets it off nicely. The band is extremely thick and stable, but is still comfortable.

Display: The Terra I got has a positive display, which i like It's also available with a negative display, in case you like that better. It runs on the more traditional segment display for numbers, like the Suunto Vector. Thus, it will not plot out any charts/graphs of your elevation or air pressure like the Suunto Core does. The backlight is incredibly bright. A lot better than I have ever seen on any Suunto watch.

Functions: Suunto has of course kept the capabilities to a minimum. I am pretty sure that's because it's intended to be a luxury dress watch. It's actually something to wear to the company or possibly a special event, but will still perform out in the wild, although not as well as the Core. The Terra only has a couple of modes, Time/Altimeter and Compass. The main display of the Terra shows a lot of information. In the top row, you get the actual height, the middle row gives you the time, and the bottom row gives the day. Near the top of the screen, you get the pressure pattern arrows, and around the perimeter you get the sea-level barometric pressure. The face area of the Terra doesn't need a rotatable bezel much like the Vector or Core. Instead, a round chart is present for reading the Sea-Level barometric pressure. - 14100

Review Of The Popular Suunto Elementum Ventus Outdoor Watch.

By Mario Bosemon

Compared to Swiss building, the Finnish have made a very competing watch. The case of the Suunto Elementum Ventus is first class using a "carved not stamped" feel to it. I enjoy the sapphire crystal, but I am unhappy that it's neither glare-proofed or domed. Thus in a pinch, you can use it as a mirror to fix your hair.

The pushers work perfectly, even though the much lauded "revolving A pusher" seems a little less than "swiss rugged" in my experience.

The display.... okay, after years of Swiss wrist watches that flawlessly performed legible negative displays, I can't "get it" with this particular watch. Why can't Suunto create a negative display with plenty lucidity and contrast to contend with the likes of a Breitling, TAG or RADO? From my limited understanding of LCD technology, the gap between a positive and a negative display would be the polarizing filter. There isn't much else with it. So Now i'm puzzled why this is so hard to read.

I am satisfied with the function of the watch. Suunto seems to have sought to make this particular watch as easy as possible! You'll find basically 4 modes. The actual main time display that may show either barometric pressure numerically or, inside the same place, display the dat. The barometric record, which is accessed by rotating the A pusher counter clockwise and scrolls the baro chart by hour increment. The compass, accessible via the C pusher in all modes with the exception of when the "race timer" is working; and also the race timer itself.

The count down chronograph is rather... uncomfortable. It resets to zero by holding the C pusher after it has been ended by pressing the A pusher. As soon as zeroed, it takes on five minutes as the start time, though you are able to swivel the A pusher to regulate this by minute steps. If set to zero, it really works like a modest chronograph. Why modest? It counts 10ths of seconds until 1 minute, and then changes to minutes and seconds, after which to minutes only. When it comes to last mode, no one is able to detect it is still running without catching a digit change. As opposed to the "regular" convention of flashing the ":" to show a running chronograph, the ":" is static. Additionally unlucky is the fact that, when halted, the timepiece will never show the more precise readings. Compare this to an Aerospace Watch, where when the chronograph is stopped, the watch alternates in between displaying the minutes and the seconds, so that you can at least access the level of precision kept in the watch. - 14100

Stepped Up To A Dyson Vacuum Cleaner...No Regrets!

By Sally Wright

With all vacuum cleaners there is a larger price for better performance. To be honest the Dyson vacuum cleaner is no different. You may pay a little bit more for a Dyson but it is worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Some people like the warranty options that come with a new unit but there are also refurbished units available. The warranty options vary so you will want to check on that. But the refurbished units are a way to get a great Dyson vacuum at a lower price.

My vacuum that I had used for years and years finally quit and I decided to spoil myself a little. After some shopping around I decided to buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Okay what actually happened was I loaned out my old vacuum to a friend and it never quite worked right when I finally got it back.

When I got the Dyson vacuum cleaner home it was pretty much ready to go right out of the box. There was very little assembly that I had to do. I just had to attach the removable hose and wand, snap a few included attachments on to the vacuum for later use. I was vacuuming with a Dyson in just a few minutes.

I'll admit it, I'm somewhat of a vacuum freak. My carpets have to be clean. I probable use the vacuum every day in a different room. I have been hearing amazing things about the Dyson for years so I was a bit excited to finally be trying one out for myself.

The Dyson's first test was the living room, heavy traffic area to say the least. The dirt collection tube collected a swirling mass of debris. When I was through vacuuming I turned off the machine and let the debris settled. At the bottom of the dirt collection tube was a half inch of dirt and dust. Settled on the dirt was four inches of hair, threads, lint and crumbs.

I was not surprised at the results because I had been without a vacuum for about a week. The real surprise came when I vacuumed the same area with the Dyson vacuum a few days later. I was actually surprised at the amount of dirt and debris the Dyson vacuum cleaner was able to pick up. It wasn't as much as the first time but it was still quite a bit. - 14100

A Guide On Car Stereo System's

By Brice Simon

A high end sound system can really be a great investment in a car if you're into music. However, with so many different stereo systems and features available these days, there are several key components to include. In this guide, I'll share with you some of the things you need to know before heading out to purchase a new sound system for your car.

The quality of speakers plays a huge role in the sound. If you're not going to go with quality speakers, then hold off until you can spend more. The speakers should always be full range. Full range speakers will make a clear difference and only deliver quality sounds.

The next key component to a quality car sound system is the sub-woofer. This is the piece of equipment that will keep your bass bumping, but more importantly, delivering the bass in a clear tone. Without a sub-woofer, it's very hard for your speakers to properly deliver the deep tones.

Satellite radio is a feature that's now included in many new cars. It gives drivers and passengers a huge variety of music to choose from. If you're into 80s music, then tune into one of many 80s channels. Same goes for hip-hop or rock!

CDs aren't as common anymore, so chances are you probably have music on your computer. Well, good news is that you're now able to upload music from a USB into your car. If you purchase the right control panel, this can be done. It's a very easy process as long as you have a flash drive.

Amplifier's are one of the most important parts of the sound system, but are often ignored. Depending on the output voltage of your system, this will determine what type and how much power your amp needs. It's extremely important to provide enough power from your amp.

Pricing will vary for each piece of equipment, although the starting price for most of these components starts at around $50. Amplifiers can actually be the most expensive of all these features and can cost over $1,000 for a top of the line amp. Subwoofers can cost up to $700, while speakers are the least expensive of these three items.

With that said, you can have a high end sound system for under $3,000. There are several different ways to set up your sound system, but the components I've mentioned are key. - 14100

Further Uses For The Indoor Bug Zapper

By Owen Jones

I don't know whether you have ever used a handheld, indoor bug zapper, but I think that they are wonderful. I?m talking about the handheld sort that looks like a child's plastic, toy tennis racquet. They come in two basic sorts. I rather the rechargeable bug zapper, for the reason that batteries end up up costing more than the indoor bug zapper itself, although you could always buy rechargeable batteries, but then they are costly too.

My wife and I like to spend time in the garden. We meet friends there, dine there and in general loaf about outside, as do most folks about here, when they are not working. What's more, it?s much cooler outside than inside. A comfortable chair, a few snacks, a cool drink and a book or a companion and life does not get much better. In fact, it's idyllic.

That is until about six or seven o'clock when the first wave of mosquitoes have judged that the sun's rays have lost enough strength that they will not evaporate and they come out searching for blood. Some evenings are worse than others, of course. Usually, the mosquitoes are fairly tolerable, especially seeing as I have discovered the indoor bug zapper. (I don't know why it is called an 'indoor bug zapper', it is equally as effective outdoors as in)..

It's not that I want to kill things, but I find it difficult to have sympathy for mosquitoes. Nevertheless, I do get a certain amount of enjoyment from seeing and hearing mosquitoes and other bugs literally blow up with a flash and a spark as they come into contact with the electric and ground wires of the indoor bug zapper. These electric bug zappers are capable of packing quite a charge, especially if the batteries are new or the pack is wholly charged.

The other day, I discovered a novel use for my handheld, indoor bug zapper. I'll tell you how it came about. I was in the garden, as usual, and my bug zapper was close at hand as the first squadron of mosquitoes was due. I had my book in one hand and the bug zapper on my knees, when my wife asked me to go to the shop for her. No problem, so, I set off on the five minute walk.

I was half-way there when I realized that I had the indoor bug zapper in my hand, but it was not worth taking it home and beginning the journey again. Anyway, on my return trip, I had my small bag of groceries in one hand and the indoor bug zapper in the other, when a local tyrant of a dog came running out of a garden right for me. This has occurred often and, although he has never bitten me yet, it is quite intimidating. He stood there glaring at me with teeth bared and his 'pack' of sundry neighborhood pals came out to surround me and join in.

I don't actually know what the best course of action is in this situation. I have tried holding my ground, but the intimidation just continues and I have tried to continue walking, but he gets worryingly close sometimes. This time, I suddenly lashed out with the indoor bug zapper and just hit him on the snout. Well, I'm not sure whether it hurt him, it did not appear to too much, but it gave him a very nasty shock in more ways than one, I can tell you! He leapt about four feet into the air as if he were on a pogo stick and then fled for all he was worth with all his friends behind him. It was very gratifying after six months of persecution from this dog.

Anyway, I don't take my indoor bug zapper everywhere with me, but I will in future, if any more local dogs bother me. I know it works a treat. I have seen that one since, but he keeps far away from me and doesn't utter a sound. I think I would take my indoor bug zapper with me, if I were wandering in an unknown part of town or the park nevertheless. - 14100

Electronic Bug Zapper

By Owen Jones

The hand held insect zapper is the best way of ridding the area around you of insects, especially the flying ones like mosquitoes. The indoor insect killer vaporizes any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a pleasingly loud, electrical 'crack'!

However, this is not to say that the indoor insect killer cannot be operated outdoors, so long as it is not too wet. It should be handled just like any other high voltage electrical item. Keep the hand held bug killer dry and please do not use it when you are standing in the pool!

Models do vary greatly, but there are basically only two types of indoor insect killer: the battery operated bug zapper and the rechargeable electric insect killer. Both models are equally effective at zapping bugs and work on the same methods.

The indoor bug killer resembles a 'junior' tennis racket, but with three sets of 'strings', which are in fact wires. The innermost grid of wires becomes electrified at the push of a button, while the other two grids, one on either side, are harmless earths.

When an insect is caught between the wires of the indoor insect zapper, it creates a short, which vaporizes it instantaneously with a loud crack. The hand held insect killer will kill other insects too, but they tend to burn rather than explode.

I have been using the rechargeable kind for about five years and am extremely satisfied with the indoor insect zapper. In fact, the electric bug zapper has come a long way over the last few years. A fully charged indoor insect zapper is powerful enough to last for several hundred swipes and will hold it's charge, when unused, for weeks without any appreciable discharge.

The rechargeable battery pack will put up with intensive use for the best part of a year, although its ability to hold a charge for several weeks gradually diminishes after six or seven months.

The most recent indoor insect killer I've had has a main on/off switch, a light that comes on when it is activated (the brightness of this light also gives an indication of the battery's strength) and an LED that comes on when the zapper is plugged in on recharge.

The instructions say that it should be (re)charged for sixteen hours. I usually put it on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the electric bug zapper shows a marked increase in performance with only a couple of hours charging.

The latest model I've seen also comes with a strong light called a 'headlamp'. I have found this very useful when out in the garden, but I'm not sure whether it's meant to attract the flies in the dark so that you can kill them if you're feeling bored or just vindictive. You know, a bit like an Anglerfish.

I've used the headlamp on my hand held bug killer for that too, but the light uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the indoor insect zapper is a big asset to any outdoor event. The electric bug killer is useful to 'clean out' your bedroom before retiring; it's unequalled for evening mosquitoes and it will clear a lunch table of wasps as well. - 14100

Sleepphones

By Joe Dormir

No matter how good your headphones are, if you're anything like me they don't tend to last all that long. It may be because I use them a lot, occasionally step on them or just like to fall asleep with them on but most end up needing to be replaced within a few months.

If you're like me and sleep with your headphones on a lot, you'll want headphones that are comfortable and cancel out background noise. When you don't as much background noise to compete with you can have the overall volume set lower - this will save your hearing over time. Whether you travel or just like to go to bed listening to your media player Sleepphones may be a good option for you. They are especially designed for the user to wear whilst going to sleep.

The Sleepphones package comes with minimal packaging which is good for the environment, and consists of two polar fleece headbands in two different colours. This is worn like any head band and the ear phones are located within the band with an extra long cable running out the back.

This is perfect for colder climates, but you may be concerned if you live somewhere warmer. Sleepphones don't seem to make you too hot during the night but also act like a sweat band, typical of athletes in the 80's. So this is perfect for those wishing to live out there sports fantasies whilst going to sleep.

Sound quality is key to any good set of headphones and Sleepphones deliver, at least to some extent and enough for the purpose they are intended for. Whilst they don't offer the best level of noise-cancellation and the sound may spill out a bit, the actual sound quality is decent. The Sleepphones are not exactly on par with expensive yet quality brands such as Bose and Sennheiser, they are comfortable and have material protection between the ear and the speaker. This makes them more comfortable to go to sleep with and ultimately protects the speaker a little. - 14100
